Hmm that is an odd medal. Thx for posting it.

One event of significance to Rome, Italy occurring on April 21, 1926 was the 2680th birthday of Rome. I note that the SPQR on the front shield also tends toward this being some sort of celebratory government medal. I wonder, is there any evidence of a removed loop or other place of attachment along the edge?

Edge is smooth all the way round so no chain or ribbon loop at any time.
Anniversary link interesting but you would have thought there would be some historical documentation about it.
Cheers
Brian.
