Edit: appears to be legit after consulting cudsoncoins. I'm guessing the weirdness I was observing is probably artifacts of whatever event destroyed the die. Leaving the original comment below. Fantastic find!!
Hm, this is a weird one. It does appear to be raised, which would be a good indication in favor of a die break, but the weird depression in the middle of Roosevelt's head, the strange wavy texture on the fields around the obverse rim, and the discoloration all raise red flags (perhaps heat exposure?) Also, the fact that both ends of the die would be blown out like this without the crack spanning the entire coin strikes me as odd. Will be interested to see what others say.

Quote: Wow, nice "split die"! Did you find this coin? yup, a while ago in a box. Quote: Hm, this is a weird one. Will be interested to see what others say. yes, it's raised. if that die was 'split' that would explain the lack of detail in the center since tat is the highest part on the coin and there would be a lack of details where the metal just sort of gets 'smooshed' there. there really is no unusual discoloration. it's just my crappy photography skills/camera. yeah, the 'blown out comment is interesting, but if the collar die does it job, the metal might be contained... don't really know though. just waitin' for more answers. :)

Very cool to catch a die cracking like that, frozen forever in time.

yeah, didn't even know about that sight. it's kind of amazing that they have that exact error. the 'G' in god gave me the first hint that it might be a cracked die. thanks everyone

shathe, Very nice find. I would give it a 100% pure acetone bath and put it in an Air-Tite capsule along with a printout of the COC page. John1

Nice find. At first I saw the crack as incused. The more I looked at it, my eyes adjusted to it. Liberty is effected also.

I usually run anything I keep through acetone. standard-ish stuff goes in two-sided whitman albums, weird error/oddities go in a saflip, and foreign/old/etc. other coins (indian heads, V nickel, W mint, etc.) are put in a half saflip inside a three-ring notebook with BCW pages.
