Hi Guys , Wheezydog thought I should pop along and let you see this wee beauty.
It was one of many coins I got from new ploughed fields around here.

DO not clean it, wait for the professionals to help you with that.
Looks like you have a $50.00 dime there in my opinion. Wonder how a CC got all the way to a Philly farm? Maybe there was one of those traveling Sarsaparilla Salesman at a Fair?
Ask Liberty what happened that she ended up in that field.

Ive wondered about that Wheezy , only ideas I got there is I'm in a real nice area of bucks county , its not uncommen for familys to own large tracts of land for farming and so on.This area was never what might be called a poor area , large old houses and very old farms, nothing much changes around here.
Could be somebody was a keen traveller and ultimately worked that farm at one point.I really dont know.
Ive found old British coins too so a traveller makes most sense for me.

I wont do anything more to it than put it away now,the front was as black as the rear or worse and I gave it a light rub with a damp cloth soaked in vinegar and ran it under a tap.

Don't rub it at all.
Vinegar I dunno. Better take my advice and see what a more experienced person suggests.

I think it looks fine just the way it is, I wouldn't think about cleaning it because if you do it will probably take any toning off as well and it looks like a good circulated coin now, can't even tell it was in the earth to be honest just looks like honest toning and dirt from circulation to me. I understand sometimes you have to clean dug coins to even see what they are but this isn't the case with this coin. I would leave this one alone if it was me

That is a nice looking coin for being dug up. That's a great find in my book. The oldest finds I have found is a 1908 dime and a 1902 Indian cent. I think I would throw a party if I found anything from the 1800's. Good looking coin.

Super nice find! The snow is finally beginning to melt and there are even spots where the earth is no longer frozen hard...can't wait to get out and start pokin' around again.
