Guys, I am aware of what is the "SOP" for normally listing of coins, but I have a question concerning multiply coins of this particular coin. I am cherry picking boxes of quarters and I keep coming across different coins with various of issues in basically the same area. Question what is the issue here? Thanks.

Look like die chips to me. Those letters are incuse on the coin, so those letters on the die itself would be raised. Since the letters are quite thin, after a while it makes sense that they would get worn and chip away. This would then leave a raised area in the otherwise incuse letters, which I beleive is what is happening on the coins you have.

agreed die chips on incuse devices bring the letters back to be level with the fields.

It would seen though, that this is a weak spot on the dies that they keep chipping in this area.

I have been for some time talking about the coins now having more intricate/busy Designs on them and for the Dies the metallurgical boundaries of strength are greatly diminished when you have Peaks and Valleys- Incuse/Cavities so close to one another, the more the Dies wear the weaker these features become. So now we see the Common Die chips and cracks accruing in the Common area`s.

I agree. Die Chips seem to be a common occurrence on these Quarters.
