I have a friend looking for information on this note.
It may be some type of real estate bond?
I know nothing about these, looking for any information, or suggested direction to go in researching information on it.
Thank you!

It's cool, whatever it is Craig. It's too bad about the water damage.

This appears to be a bearer bond that was issued at $35 in 1877, and matured to $1,000, unsure if it still valid, but it was issued by the Equitable Trust Company, in 1931 this company merged with Chase National Bank (which later became Chase Manhattan Bank, when it merged again with Bank of Manhattan).
Interesting enough during the early years John D. Rockefeller, Sr, was a client of this company.

It is an interest coupon clipped from a bond. It looks like 7.0% paid twice a year on a $1,000.00 bond. (It says real estate mortgage, so technically not a bond but a promissory note. The effect is the same on the investor). This is coupon 7 from a bond issued May 1, 1874. Coupon 1 was paid November 1, 1874, 2 on May 1, 1875, etc.
