A few weeks ago while I was checking the pop report of NGC I was surprised to see they listed a single 1952 1/2P in PF-67RB. Anyone who has interest in KGVI proofs will recognise how phenomenal such a newly discovered coin in proof condition for this date would be, and in such a wonderfull state of preservation at that! I was surprised to see no publications about it but I didnt pushed further. Tonight I realized why when I was checking the Cert. numbers of a South African proof set I recently acquired...

Its too bad people buy the coin, not the holder because I would be substantially richer now...

At PF-67,
I presume those two long dents that appear to be on George V1's jaw, are actually on the slab,
otherwise
it ain't a straight grade PF-67, but instead a 'details' coin.

Quite often, slab dents and scratches show up as closely doubled images, but that is not always the case; that depends on the lighting direction and angle.

Love the very slight (if at all), cameo devices of Royal Mint coins of this period, with highly finished, but non mirror fields.

Proof Halfpennies for 1952 are reported, and as attested by this slabbed coin.
However, proof sets in the low tens of thousands are not reported for the 1952 date, and thus,
I would believe that only very few proof Halfpennies for 1952 were produced, most probably less than 100 examples.
I stand to be corrected re numbers produced.

I dont have the coin in hand yet but I assume those are toning stripes due to the coin staying in the proof case.

Ive yet to find a good source of information for the 1952 proof but Ive seen only one halfpenny in proof conditions. Due to the famous and unique 1952 proof penny,I don't even think they were issued in a set, I wouldnt be surprised if the total mintage was under 10 pieces... 1952 proof halfpenny from S-A however, are quite common with a mintage of 12,000.

Yikes! A South African half penny in a slab labeled as being the less common UK coin. You are right, if someone "bought the holder" you could reap a nice profit.
