One person got it! I am so proud to have this as my one Flowing Hair/Liberty Cap cent. I especially love the full cheeks and razor sharp hair detail. I budgeted for an EF(40) but was floored by this one so much I was willing to trade for it.

I'm a little late to this topic, but just wanted to compliment you on this beautiful acquisition! That's a really great example.

the slabbed photo show a nicer looking coin. I'm thinking this photo is showing a more accurate color which has a really nice patina. AU53 is the right grade. its just has great eye appeal to look at, your not going to get a much better example at that grade. nice addition Adam

I am also a bit late, but congrats on such a lovely coin and I'm not at all surprised that it graded as high as it did. For comparison, here is my example that graded at a measly VF30 by PCGS:

I'm happy with the amount of detail on mine, but the surfaces on yours are to die for!

Thanks so much, everyone! Learning about early copper is fascinating. @barryg, thanks for sharing yours--I also love the detail, and the chattered surfaces must tell wonderful historical stories of circulating in the earliest days of our country--I only wish I had a machine that could show me everything a coin has "seen." I also appreciate the surfaces of my newest acquisition--finding the "right" 1794 cent for my collection really taught me a lot about holding out and not lowering my standards--so many beautiful cents in EF or AU slabs all had their "issues" and I had to learn which qualities are most important for me in choosing the coin that will represent its entire type in my collection.

I'm not surprised by the grade. Amazing and beautiful large cent. I was definitely in the AU 50 especially after seeing the other coins shown.
