This is really strange.

A hoard of ancient Roman coins that was discovered in Cornwall in the U.K. has been tampered with, it was revealed earlier this month, with three coins allegedly swapped with other, more valuable coins.

Alternatively, one of the original finders of the hoard may have wanted to keep some of the coins they found and swapped them out for others they had on hand.
It's a very perplexing situation.

That is... weird. I suppose the see extra value in keeping something they found, even if they had to "pay" more than they were worth to keep them.
