I am not familiar with the Tulsa market as I quit doing coin shows up that way about 10 years ago. Most of the dealers I knew back then have gone to that big coin show in the sky.

Post pictures of coins you are thinking about disposing of here and we can give you opinions of what they should bring. Do not clean, or try to improve, the appearance of your coins.

Always remember that brick and mortar dealers have overhead and some of that overhead will come out of what they pay for incoming inventory.

We look forward to helping you.

It's a bunch of silver, all denominations. There's no way to photograph or list it by individual coin. Most of the value is silver halves, Morgan, Peace, and Silver Eagles. Address, if you will, what you would expect to get for this type stuff as it relates to melt value.

I'm sorry this is so vague. Thank you for any help you can give me.

@her, if these pieces are heavily circulated to only be worth melt, then you might be interested in this thread:

However, I think that @west was getting at that there might be specific pieces that are worth a premium over melt. Folks here could help to arm you with that information and make you a more informed seller.

If "junk" silver is what you got then make a few phone calls to the local dealers and ask them what they are paying for circulated 90% silver coins. Be sure and take notes and KNOW what their buy prices are in relation to the spot price at that particular time. Don't be surprised if some won't quote a price until they see the coins. (Some dealers are funny when it comes to quoting prices on the phone). They also may low-ball you if they think they can get away with it and don't know you. Do not be afraid to walk away if you don't feel comfortable or if you think they are trying to take advantage of you. Unfortunately, there are crooked people in this business and some are experts at taking advantage of the uninformed. You can also search online reviews of those businesses and get a feel what others may have experienced.

In other words do your homework. You only get to sell these things once!

Very few, if any, are junk. Far more of them are BU. I feel like more of them will go into the store's inventory than to a wholesaler.

Unless you are in a hurry why not wait for a coin show where you have the ability to shop your coins around to several dealers?

I agree with the coin show suggestion. Just like buying, you can sell after collecting competing offers from different dealers.
