Why would a person, bid 80 more times on a ebay item. does anyone have a reason to explain this? [eBayItem]250395056492[/eBayItem] ANYONE?

Very odd. Never seen that before. Looks like someone was slowly trying to outbid him a little at a time but I can't explain the same bid dozens of times

He wants to make sure he wins it. I would have no idea.

I have never seen anything like that either and I am on ebay everyday since 03 I guess so, about the person wanting to win this item by scaring others away.

I am not an ebay pundit but if I put a max bid in of $100 and the current bid is $1.00, does not my bid become $2.00 as the next bid. I don't think they show an intervening bidders attempted bid, just the new bid for the bidder with the higher max. So, every time someone tried to bid, they created the next bid for the high bidder. Hope this makes sense. Jim

Very odd...my first thought was shill bidding where he was attempting little by little to expose the other guys high bid, but then he hit that and didnt stop. I'm not really sure what to think of this.

There had to be a reserve as the next bid is way lower than the winning price ... the winner was just creeping toward the reserve I guess. Odd.

Although the last many appear to be after he would have reached the reserve...

chequer I think your right about what you said in your first post but why bid 80 more times. why not just bid one higher amont after you reached the reserve insted of bidding so many more times.

I think if you place a bid as a high bidder, it still shows as a bid. Maybe it's an autobidding program run amuck?

It could be all those reasons...I've noticed when somebody really wants a coin, they keep adding to the max price they paid, which of course drives up their own bid. Here's where a sniping program would help.

I believe it is random consequence of inbreeding. Or maybe a religious rite.
