It appeared in a lot of coins from the late Roman Empire, mainly from the Antioquia area.

I think it's Islamic. Going to be hard to identify - the design/legend is hardly visible on those pics...

Agreed, it looks to me to have some similarities to early Muiz ud din Qaiqabad paika, but the weight is a lot less on the OP coin.
