Hello! I'm new to coin collecting and am currently looking at the 2002-P Louisiana State Quarter. I noticed that the spacing between the letters Q/U and T/E seems to be closer to each other than the other letters. Could this be some sort of error? And if so, under what category would it be?

Thank you!

The first two photos are of my coin and the last photo is a photo I found with regular spacing.

@mal, first welcome to CCF. Second, you are right that some of the letters in QUARTER appear closer to gather in the first coin. However, rather than being a mint error, it looks to me like these letters have been flattened during circulation and therefore are a bit broader than they were when they left the mint.

To CCF! It might be Die Chips or just damage from circulation flattening.
