If your talking about the mint mark?
It looks like it's probably zinc rot? Hard to tell, the pictures are a little fuzzy.

Here are the 3 main sources we use for attribution sources. It's always good to check all 3 sites for the variety you are looking for.
If your looking at the mint mark, RPM.
All other devices on the front (Obverse) of the coin ( DDO).
Back (Reverse)of the coin ( DDR). These are some of the (varieties) we look for.

Errors are a different category, depending on what your looking at on the coin. If it's not a double die or An RPM, OMM.
It might be an error. (Too many to list).
I will say picture Quality is key for everyone to be able to help you out.

I agree the area at the MM is "zinc rot".
This is from a break in the copper surface which allows the underlying zinc core to oxidize.
Zinc is considered a sacrificial metal. It will oxidize and "dissolve" before other metals.

That is why it is used as anodes on boat motors and hot water heaters.

[BTW- Real doubling on the MM would be referred to as an PRM (Re-Punched Mintmark)]
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
