The weight of 2.5 grams indicates it is a copper plated zinc planchet and the rull rim tells us it is a type 2 planchet, meaning it has the protorim on it. This is the 'proto-rim' developed when the blanks are processed through the Upset Mill. The Type I becomes a Type II once the upset has been added to the edge. The proto-rim helps develop the full strike details formation during the minting process. Coins struck in error on a type I blank are known, but very rare.
