Unfortunately I have to sell off several nicer pieces in coming weeks, the nicest of which retail (says PCGS) at about $1600. Most are in the $200-$400 range. I've been selling on ebay just because it is easy and familiar, but the results have been kind of lackluster thus far. Does anyone have experience with Great Collections? Will they photograph the coins? Any downsides of which I should be aware? Edited by pristine2 08/11/2023 6:13 pm

I've sold over $30K worth of coins through GC and I rave about their services. Ian Russell is fabulous and still takes the time to answer individual questions if you have any. IMO they have the lowest seller fees in the auction business along with a large dedicated buyer audience. Yes, they image the coin and the slab. Downside is that the coins already need to be TPG encapsulated. From what I have seen of your offerings here at CCF you have that covered. Best of wishes and let us know how it goes for you.

I sent 16 Morgans to Great Collections last week, and received acknowledgement yesterday. The lowest value coin retails for about $90, the highest at about $400. Looking forward to the experience! Thanks again for the vote of confidence in GC.

I sent a coin to GC for grading and get auctioned. Everything went great except getting paid. The first check was lost, the 2nd should've been here already so I'm not thrilled with them at this point. Yes, I've left voice mail and emailed Ian this morning.
Edit/Update: Want to update that I just spoke with Ian and ACH is happening today. In the future I will not hesitate to work with Ian and Great Collections.

@jbuck - that was only wishful thinking. Seems Ian and the staff at GC are great at making the right noises but have no follow through. Their communication to customers is so far below par I'm not even sure they know what it is. That's right, STILL NOT PAID! USAA says no pending ACH
In conclusion, if you're selling go somewhere else. You may get less money but at least you will get it!

Last 4 lots I sent in to GC I didn't get paid until 27-30 days after auction and twice had to call them.. Hey their good and have the goods but things have changed there when I'm selling. Buying at GC is top dog but honestly I just don't send my coins to GC anymore and I do alright. For me waiting for listing and a month for check turns into 10 weeks every time. I used to get some solid deal auction wins back in the days 2016 - 2020 not anymore.. GC has been so successful that I'm competing with too many who are willing to pay too much...thats the nature of the beast. I've been forced through necessity to hit coin shops, ebay, and shows where I can still get deals in happy zone between graysheet and retail. Sorry GC army cardholders but I've branched out.

My experiencers with GC have been consistently positive, but I have none over the last 12 months.

I feel in all fairness to GC I should mention 80% of the coins I've consigned to GC were under $150. Any coin scarce, and with value over $500 I admit GC is the path for the top dollar i.m.o. Basically my only gripe is the wait for listing and then for the check...then when I get paid "oh their the best" LOL. The amount of bidders on GC has grown exponential since 2016 thats good for sellers but tough for small buyers like me. Oh the deals one used to get on varieties and niche semi-keys 5-6 years ago. The hobbie pulled a fast one on me!

I should've updated this on Friday afternoon when I actually received the check finally. Aggravating at the least. Ian did his best to explain this was an anomaly. Better communication would have made the whole thing much better. The Tuesday before Labor Day when I told a replacement check would go out right away I wasn't informed they were moving offices into a different location. When they sent it out a week later they should have emailed me the tracking #. Ah well, I'll try them again without hesitation. Just purchased a coin Sunday in their auction, now I get to experience that side of it. :)
