After another coin disappointment with raw coins I had to send back -1858-O Half and the 1860-O Half Dime), I bought this slabbed one. Not good seller's pics, but all I've got. Should have it in a week for real pictures. Not sure about variety, but the lower curl touching the center of the 8 must be diagnostic. Looks like it's been in this holder for a while. Price seemed reasonable.

AU, but the spot between S5-S6 is of immediate concern, and the overall look of the coin is impossible to judge from the photos.
The marks at STA on the reverse look to be on the holder?

This, to me, is a lottery coin: you're either going to be very happy, or very disappointed, but rarely in between.

You can always ask the seller for better photos. Most decent sellers and reputable dealers will take additional photos for you if it's not some junk-bin cull coin. Sellers who won't oblige such a request should be approached with a bit more caution when bidding or buying.

Yeah, but they'll fall apart. I already tried to enlarge to figure a die variety and the pictures just won't allow it. For now, this is about it.

AU Something, impossible to judge from these images. I'd be a bit concerned about surface preservation, not knowing what marks are on the coin and what's on the holder. Definitely a gamble as paralyse said, or having to put some faith into the grade on the holder.

thought that holder looks in the mid-AU range. at that grade the obv field does not look original. do you have in-hand photos?

easy to attribute this one. N-19 with crack all across obverse from star 3 to between stars 9 and 10 on other side.

Thanks, jerryc39 - you are obviously correct once I looked closely. Seller's pics are pretty bad. No die rotation, unfortunately. Should have this in hand soon and will post pictures and grade.

Coin arrived today. Die break didn't show too well in seller's pics.

It looks good, die break gives it personality.
