I love this coin, no matter what the grade says. It's one I can't imagine ever trying to upgrade, as I love the color and specific look of mine--it feels great to have "the coin" of any type, especially if "the coin" is not the most expensive, or highest graded, one out there. In real life there are gorgeous blues that emerge in the luster. This being said, True View shows the "flaws" more clearly, and they are certainly there! What do you think of my "booby head?" What grade do you think it should get? It's a good thing I didn't acquire this oddly named variety when I was a teenager... Edited by Adam590 08/16/2023 11:17 pm

Very nice piece, first thought was MS63, but the more I look at it the more I think 64.

The dent(s) on Lib's neck are the biggest problem with this coin. Reverse better. Always harder to identify the smallest nicks and scratches under a heavy patina, larger ones are easier to see. If this coin was a silver coin with full luster I think it would grade at MS-62, and so that is my grade opinion at MS-62. A desirable coin of this type, in this condition. Every effort should be made to preserve the patina; I think this coin would be worse off with a cameo thinning of the patina on the high points.

Nice coin and smooth fields. I'll be conservative and say MS-63 due to the marks on the neck and cheek.

It's an absolute beauty, Adam, and certainly in the MS range. However, there are some marks around the rim that suggest it was once mounted in jewelry. By the way, a Booby Head was the first coin I ever purchased sight unseen via a Coin Week ad back in the early '70s. As I was only 10 or so, it's not even close to being in your coins league. It was the "booby" in the name that attracted me!

this is a really nice example of this variety. love the color on it. I'm betting it looks even better in hand. the hit on the neck is the only standing out flaw on her.
MS63 and man she is close to RB if this is the real color.

Here it is! Most you seem to think PCGS was a bit harsh on this one too--it's only ever been submitted once, it has no auction history at all, and I love it as a type coin. Whether it is a 62 or a 63 to me doesn't matter so much to me right now. I am glad that this coin has a chance at scoring the green bean, though :).

imo it would bean.
the neck hit is really the only flaw that stands out. I'm going to say the knocked it because its in the sweet spot. the reverse is outstanding

Nice coin for the grade for sure. If it were mine I'd probably attempt a crack and resub. That said, we're only going off images, you have it in hand
