Hello,
I have this coin I'm having problems identifying. Coin seems pretty old, maybe a couple hundred years old. In between the size of an old silver dollar and a Kennedy half dollar. Any help would be appreciated...

I did some research and I found out some information. This coin appears to be a 1585 Spanish Netherlands Idaal coin of King Philip ll, 1 daalder. Does anyone else know anything about these coins?

@mark, first welcome to CCF. Second, that is a nice old silver coin you have there. I agree with your research that it is from the Spanish Netherlands, but not so sure on the denomination. Please tell us the diameter and weight of this piece. Here is a numista link to a very similar piece that is a Half-Daalder (39 mm and 17.1 g):

Thanks for moving my post to the appropriate forum. I think you're right about the denomination. My coin is 34.5mm approximate and 15.5 grams. I'm sure there were discrepancies in diameter and weight when they were minted. Could this be why there is a variation?

Spence, I forgot to thank you for the compliment of my coin. I found this coin posted on the net. I forgot where, but its the same type of coin I have. Mine seems to be in better condition though. Any idea on the value of this coin?
