A tiny 14mm zinc coin that is an oddity. I can find no reference to it anywhere. You would expect a 10gr silver coin instead. I doubt it is of any collectible importance, but I would like to know more about it.

I thought perhaps it is some type of Notgeld, but I cannot locate one like this.

Any ideas or insights?

hard to see in the photos, is the denomination listed below the 2? first thought is that play money doesn't normally use a "real" denomination, or even the year/mint mark.

Sorry for the photo, yes, it is 1925 E mint mark, which made me think it wasn't play money. I suspect you're right though, as I can find no other examples. It's well after WW1, so it wouldn't be emergency money. Just one of those head scratchers..

German play-money manufacturers often made quite realistic-looking replica coins (including dates, mintamrks, etc), only they were in miniature. I believe German law at the time allowed for it, as long as the toy money was significantly smaller than genuine coins.

Such "toy coins" would of course not be legal anywhere today, as they would be considered a choking hazard.

Thanks triggersmob, that is the exact coin. Everyone was right, it is play money. SAP moderator answered the stupefying question as to why there was a date/mint mark. I am impressed, as I could not find any web page about it.
