I picked up a 1971 proof set at an auction recently for $6. The holder is scratched kinda bad. I was wondering what you guys think. Crack em out and put them into something else or just leave them in there and try to buff out the scratches as best as I can.

I'd leave them in and try a clean up the case.

Can you post a pic of the case? That might help us give better advice. :)

Break them free and put them in an album. Then get more sets, break them apart, and put those in the album as well.

I would try to buff the case first, if that doesn't work, then set them free.

Well.......it depends.....if you're collecting "the Sets" and that's the whole point of buying this Set......then keep it intact or try to look for one in better condition.....
If you're NOT collecting "the Sets", and are only interested in the coins contained within to put into albums.....then the decision is self-evident I would think.
