Just when I thought I was done chasing proof Jeffersons and after watching a seldom offered PR68 NGC listing and going unsold at $699.99
I jumped on a PF67 for about 12% of that and bought it now that I saw listed tonight.

In the voice of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Announcer ...

This is one of the top 10 Jefferson nickel Varieties
Tripled Die Reverse Proof 67 Jefferson nickel FS-035

This is actually a Quadrupled Die Reverse and Wexler and Ribar
identify this as WDDR-001

Pictures don't show much but I know what I should expect when this arrives within the next week.

I just know I won't be happy until I have that 1971 No S Proof.
Ah, well I'm happy, maybe I should say completely satisfied.

Thanks guys. I've kicked it into high gear since I joined this forum. I suspect I'll end up with a few nice boxes of 2x2's and a few sets and move onto the Franklin's next by the end of 2009.
There comes a time when I'll have to sit back and just look at coins I hope instead of chasing them.
I often think of wise things Franklin said and I appreciate the philosophy of Jefferson.
Two smart guys. Wouldn't it have been neat to meet them in person?

Yes! wheezydog, you also amaze me.

What a beautiful Jefferson.

Do you consider all proofs to be a complete set of Jeffersons? I have some but not all.

From what I've learned, there really is no rule. I think there are so many varieties, for so many coin denominations, that not many people could ever have close to a complete set. I think what you decide to stop at completes a set. I recently posted that I had a complete set of Jefferson Proofs but then this came along. There are other doubled dies in the 50's and 60's too. Then there's my avatar. The no S 1971 Proof.
Having one of every date that was minted for collectors or circulation might be where one could say they have the complete set.
I guess you could go crazy and find a strike from every working die. There is no rule I guess.
My goal is to have the most complete set in the best condition I can find and afford of as many different Jefferson's I can find.
