This coin is even worse than the Washington-Carver half dollar and that coin is considered the worst commemorative half dollar ever.
This is just my opinion.

I like the concept of the design, but the execution is bad. The face is not even close to what she looks like...I thought they used professional sculptors. Photos of her do exist and they should have used them as reference, which they clearly did not.
I love LARGE fields and I would buy 1000 of these if the portrait was correct.but I can't even come to purchase one since it's not her face on the coin.

 Good concept, poor execution.

It's. different? The words as clothing is a bold design choice, but it's hard to say that they nailed it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people think that the Peace dollar is gorgeous, whereas I have a different opinion.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I find it particularly ugly and sloppy. It's as if the artist thought infusing the design with some contemporary weirdness (that the subject herself wouldn't recognize) would suffice to overcome a rather obvious lack of aesthetic quality. The decision to masculinize and Africanize the face of the woman is bizarre -- any may not have been the artist's intent. The face on the draft design released to the public in 2022 is much more realistic (see below). Not that African faces aren't just as beautiful as any other, it's just not who she was. But any political or social intent aside, I think the entire art of American coin production is aesthetically impaired these days. Something essential is lost in computer assisted design -- so much so that I find the modern renditions of the Morgan, Peace and Walking Liberty designs to be cheap & shallow reflections of the originals.

You're right. I don't think she ever wore a sweater resembling a plate of spaghetti.

Not a fan either. Hondo, that was my thought also about the Peace dollar. Until my new unc showed up. Then the proofs just blew me away.

It says a lot that a coin design from 100 years ago can chew up and spit out any circulating coin that we've made since.

It looks like some type of foreign money. You need a loupe or magnifying glass to see United States of America and one quarter. Bizarre!

Personally, I like the coin and ordered a few rolls of it. Although, I cannot disagree on their missing accurate representation of her portrait, which was unfortunate.

The Royal Canadian Mint took a similar approach last year on its commemorative silver dollar for Alexander Graham Bell. I'm not a fan!

A design that busy [Jovita] should be on a planchet at least the size of a dollar, perhaps on a 2.5 inch medallion. Since the State Quarters series, more and more designs require a light and a magnifier to view.

Interesting. When I first posted the designs, some didnt seem to like that one at that time. I mentioned later in the thread that I read the CCAC recommendation in depth at that point and sure seems they are completely on a different level with that design than the comments, saying it might be coin of the year. http://goccf.com/t/435645&whichpage=2#3748249We are all unique...just like everybody else

I will go against the mob. The design has grown on me. I like how it looks as a proof coin.
