Well this one came in today. The reverse is really nice in hand . The obverse is to minus that mark on the top right. Almost looks like it had a rubber band type thing on it for ever lol. Not sure if conservation would hurt by exposing brighter silver or help It is straight graded . Liberty is hard to photo but there is a little more there than I can get in the pics LI (top of B) ( top of R and T) and Y are present if that helps. Anyway a tough seated half I was happy to find.
It's got character! Not to mention a fantastic date.The wear pattern seems somewhere around F15, but if they straight-graded it with that mark, I'm guessing maybe they netted it out at F12.
From the pictures provided, I'll say you have 1871-CC WB-7, Large CC. This is the second use of this obverse die and only use of this reverse die in 1871. It has a rarity of: R4 Very nice coin, I'll say F-12 straight grade.
I've seen those black marks on other silver. not sure what causes it however I don't think it can be removed. in that case I think a TPG would call it PMD
