Been home a couple days and trying to attribute and file all the stuff I picked while away. Mostly done and figured I'd post at least something before I file them all. This isn't a super strong DDO, which is in part why I'm posting it. You can see the notches on the lower left of some letters, and the separation line on some of the horizontal bars, but it's not strong. This coin is stage C, so even tougher than on an early die stage. Point is, just think how many doubled dies are out there in circulated condition but there would be just about no way of seeing it to actually find them, when it's this tough on a BU coin. This is one I ran into somewhere this summer, I don't remember where I picked it from. 1946-S Washington quarter doubled die - DDO-001

I have often felt the same way about the well traveled wheat cents that aren't in good shape almost in possible to see the die markers . But I do see the notching on the bottom of the R nice find that one would be very easy to miss nice find tropical Batts

It takes a real expert knowledge and calibrated eye to see this one, even on an MS coin. Well found. And welcome home.

Quote: I do see the notching on the bottom of the R Me too, but that is really the only spot that I'm seeing this. Great point about missing this once it has been circulated @tb.

Nice one! Thanks for posting. Quote: Point is, just think how many doubled dies are out there in circulated condition but there would be just about no way of seeing it to actually find them, when it's this tough on a BU coin. Good point. I very likely would have overlooked this. Also, I have some '40s quarters in much more cirulated condition yours, and even if they were a DDO like this, it would likely be impossible to see.

Thanks all! This coin caught my attention because it's actually slightly toned and has super eye appeal. That was visible in the seller's photos, but not mine as toning doesn't show up well with my set up. So when I saw the DDO it just kinda made for an easy choice to go for it.
