Today I found a 1987 50cent coin that was only released in mint sets. It was mixed in about $30 worth of 50 cent coins but seemed to be calling me as it was just sitting there saying 'hello, take me home'

Good for you. Wish I was as lucky. I look at every single coin which ends up in my pocket, searching for coins I can give the grandkids. Very seldom do I find anything for their collections.

G'day, in the last few days, I've been given in change a near-Unc 1969 50-cent, and the next day a near-Unc 1984 $1. I wonder if the "Global Financial Crisis" is causing a few moneyboxes to be shaken out ? Peter in Darwin

I'd have to agree with the moneybox comment Peter. I was given a near-UNC 1977 Jubilee 50c this week in change that definitely hasn't been passed around for 32 years. Little bittersweet for me though as someone must've given it up begrudgingly...

I found a golden 1997 Smithy (circulating variety) while roll searching today. Not a mark on it. This is not the first I've found in this condition. They have a beautiful golden colour.

I got an incuse 2000 Milennium coin in change from the supermarket last week. To say I was excited would be an understatement!

Quote: Peter THOMAS: I wonder if the "Global Financial Crisis" is causing a few moneyboxes to be shaken out? It appears from reading this thread that the "Great Coin Jar Cash-In of 2008-up" is not limited to the U.S.! This forum's byline is after all "What's in your pocket?"

Today I got a 2010 50¢ at the shop. A bit knocked around, but it's the first 2010 coin for me.
