Hi!
just received this Whitman Album dated from 1959 and to my surprise, the last penny in the album is this 1943 P steel penny denominated as "so called silver penny"....the penny is in pristine condition, spotless.
I'd like to send it for grading but, but, not unless its worthy.
Thank you.

Definitely not worth the cost of sending it to a TPG to get it graded. MS examples of these are plentiful and can be bought for pretty cheap.

Since the photos aren't showing any natural luster, it's possible that this coin has been reprocessed, or replated. You should be able to tell by checking the edge to see if it has a dull steel finish or a bright plated finish. In either case, I agree it would not be worth the grading fee.

Agree with the assessments above. A close-in, end-on pic of the rim might prove interesting.

Looks to be around MS-64, doesn't look replated.

just some notes for your future reference regarding slabbing
most collectors shy away from slabbing for a couple reasons. the biggest is cost. (ex) PCGS you need a subscription the lowest end is $60 plus the grading fee typically $22 plus shipping and ins both ways. unless you have a rare coin or one valued at least $150 you are chewing up most of the value of the coin. second, TPG grading is not infallible. all depends on who the grader is that looks at it. we have seen grades on slabbed coins that are not even close. either over or under graded. CCF members have as much knowledge about grading as TPG graders. many own their own LCS

if you have a question on any coin just do what you did here and post it. also, always take the coin out the holder when possible as it alters the coin and don't use any overhead or flash lighting as it creates to much glare to obscure the surfaces
