Hello everyone. It's been a number of years since I last updated my collection and I have a lot to catch up on. Having said that, I know there are a lot better cameras out there than my old. 5D. What I'd really like to know is whether it makes sense to invest in a full frame, mirrorless or will I achieve the same results with an APS-C (cropped frame) I will be honest here and say that I don't lug around a full-size camera anymore but I could talk myself into buying it just for macro/micro and stacking.

I still have my copy stand and setup I bought from Ray P. years ago.
So tell me what you guys think. If money wasn't the primary concern, would you go for a full frame mirrorless or could you do the same with something smaller? Lmk.

For coin photography, the 5D II should be fine. A nice macro lens ( and a diffusible lighting source) would make it sing.

I have the same issue as you, I have a 6D and want to upgrade, but I have nice glass.

And I like full frame, so my next upgrade would most likely be another full frame DSLR or a full frame mirrorless that takes Canon lens.

This came up recently because I upgraded to Windows 11 and couldn't get my EOS utility live to work. Seems 5D mk II is no longer supported.

I started looking at newer Canon models but I'm not happy that they changed the lens system. Sure, it will work with an adapter but I've got lots of EF lens already. Still, I like this R6 mk II and I wouldn't be buying an entire lens set this time. Maybe just an RF100 2.8 and a zoom lens to get by with for now. Here I go again..#128526; this is not going to take a lot of convincing lol.

I have both a 5D and a 6D. They are great cameras supported by a great array of lenses and accessories. A few years ago I was going on a long trip and needed to travel light. I took a chance a bought the Fuji X-Pro 2. It is light, easy to carry, and takes great photos. I now only use my Canons for paid photo shoots. The Fuji goes with me everywhere. None of the Fuji lenses compare to my Canon L lenses, but I am very satisfied with the quality of the Fuji lenses.
