Hello, new member here. I am just wondering what people think might have caused this coin to look this way. I bought it at a flea market when I was around 10 years old, about 30 years ago, and I just always assumed it was damaged but now I'm wondering if it could possibly be a mint error. Thank you for any information.

Looks like PMD to me. Is the reverse flattened in that area, or...?

It is flat in that area on the opposite side and the color is a bit lighter in that area as well. Thank you for your response. I always assumed it was PMD as well but don't really understand how it could have happened or where the material would have gone.

Maybe someone tried to put a hole in it.
