Good morning community! Thought I would share this weekends find from a box of fresh 2023 D dimes! This is the first clad layer damaged coin I've found that wasn't PMD. Is this classified as "missing clad layer"? Weight is 2.258g so not far from normal, but only a little bit of the clad layer is missing. Any information is greatly appreciated!

Definitely a legitimate error coin. I have contacted Mike Diamond for his input on this one.

to the CCF!

Interesting error! It looks almost like a Clam Shell with a ripped section.

ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

It appears that you have a split clad layer. This would have occurred during rolling out of the composite strip.

Thank you all! Do you think something like this would be worth grading? I have it in a 2x2 for now.

Nice find. I don't think it would be worth slabbing. But I'd like to have it in my collection. How far does the "crack" go around the edge?

Cujohn, The crack goes about halfway around. I'll have to think on if I want to sell it or not

Keep it clean and do not touch it, finger prints will stay on coin forever. Very nice find

If it goes halfway around, it would probably fit in the clam shell category as Hondo said. After thinking about it, I'd probably send it to ANACS. Just to have it in a holder. They would be the cheapest.
