This coin may be a Close Overlap Double Strike. The reverse shows some areas of a reeded edge while the obverse is smooth (partial collar strike?) The copper core is also visible around the circumference of the reverse but cannot be seen from the obverse.

Interesting for sure. I've taken it all in and will think about a bit. Trying to apply the description to the current images.

Food for thought.

This is a great looking coin and a good educational piece to analyze.

This broadstruck dime was probably struck twice, perhaps more. If the edge is beveled and the reeding smeared, this would be a "forced broadstrike". The edge would have made grazing, transient contact with a stiff but still collapsible collar. Errors with this appearance can be produced with only one strike, which is why I used the word "probably" in my first sentence.

Very nice error. The toning is very appealing.
