I found this nickel in a coin roll. When I flipped it over to inspect there is something on the top into E. Pluribus Unum. I've never seen this before but it doesn't look like a scratch to me. Anyone know what it might be?

It might be struck through a detached Rim Fin.

Definitely a Struck Through error, possible a rim burr.

Struck through Rim Fin or rim burr?

@John1 I believe Spence meant to say burr. A Rim Fin is a protrusion of attached metal caused by uneven pressure during the strike when one of the dies is aligned slightly crooked to the other. A burr is a piece of detached metal from the blanking process.
