another huge surprise! hoping that this coin is legit, as it was mixed in with some other pre 1933 gold coins, all in the raw in paper stapled flips-these looked to have not been opened or looked at for decades

again, I am looking to get this graded but would love some input

I'm afraid it looks quite fake to me. Devices are different from any example I've ever seen. It may well be gold, but I don't think this is real.

The rim is wrong on the coin. The coin was struck in a ring. In 1799 the mint did not have rings. Note the rim is higher than denticles and there is a separation between rim and denticles. As noted above, the example is a fake.

unfortunately I do not have a scale-i can take it to a coin shop, but I do not have a relationship with anyone local to me
