Quote: The finds seem to confirm academy officials' theory that the box was left by cadets in 1828 or 1829, when the original monument, which honors Revolutionary War hero Thaddeus Kosciuszko, was completed. numismatic student, I read the original article a few days ago with great dismay as the time capsule appeared to hold nothing but silt. The discovery of these few remaining treasures greatly gladdened my heart! We can only wonder what other items once contained have been lost to history.

Looks like the most interesting item was a 1795 Half Dime. Wonder how they will look if they undergo conservation.
