What Happened To This Coin (1961 Nickel)

DanWthePlan New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 08/31/2023 4:42 pm Now that everyone is gathered here and talking about damaged nickels, what are your opinions about this 1961 Nickel? It appears that it was damaged by a machine of some kind, but on closer look, it looks to me that a piece of another nickel was mashed on top of this one. It looks to me that the "D" on the word United has a different width on the straight part of the "D" than the orignal nickel. Interested to hear your thoughts on this coin.
