What Happened To This Coin (1961 Nickel)

Now that everyone is gathered here and talking about damaged nickels, what are your opinions about this 1961 Nickel? It appears that it was damaged by a machine of some kind, but on closer look, it looks to me that a piece of another nickel was mashed on top of this one. It looks to me that the "D" on the word United has a different width on the straight part of the "D" than the orignal nickel. Interested to hear your thoughts on this coin. Ever notice that it's always the people who think they have a damaged coin who actually have a nice error, and always the ones who are SURE they have a nice error that just have a damaged coin?
