Almost missed the Cud on this woodie. I love the strong burlewood tone almost as much as the Cud.

Oh wow, you don't see these very often after the wheat era (and really after the 40s). Also a small date (not that they're very rare on Ds). Can we get a close-up of the mint mark? I can't tell if it's just a little beat up or if it might be a minor RPM as well.

MM took a hit. Even under the loupe it's tough to say if it's a RPM.

I like the tone. I don't think that it has reached the Cud stage yet. The bottom has involved the rim, but the top hasn't.

Very pleasing colors that are easy on the eyes.

MM looks like it got flattened but there might be notching at the top serif and an extra vertical bar confirming an RPM.

I'm seeing a raised area near the rim @ K8 that looks like it's raised but I'm not sure it's a full-blown Cud yet. I can't tell if the piece of the die is still in place but out of verticle alignment.

Thanks. After your observation Dearborn I took a very close look at the " Cud" and see what you mean. There is an indication this is in fact a lamination issue - particularly on the SE area. However, there is also a two level raised area on the NE border that supports evidence of an early stage Cud. Both an early stage Cud and delam? Interesting.....

I've never heard of a cud/delam hybrid before.

I still won't go with Cud myself here, Cuds are normally if not always raised higher that the rim due to the missing part/edge of the die.

Is a Retained Cud a possibility?
