*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***
Maybe I had asked that question on the wrong forum but hopefully, now I am on the right one. And hopefully someone would know the answer. Ok has anyone seen or heard of a 1943 Lincoln Steel penny where the 3 over the 4 covers a fair portion of it?
Kind Regards Roni

An authentic coin couldn't be produced where an earlier date was "over" a later date. 1943 production would have stopped before 1944 production started. If you have a 1944 copper Lincoln Cent that seems to show a 3 over the 4, it is counterfeit or damaged. Share some images if you would. We like conundrums. I don't know of any authentic steel cents that were created by a die that had a "... 3 over the 4 ...". FWIW- There is a fairly recent agreement among attributers of coins struck by dies showing 1943 over 1942 from the San Francisco mint. See this link:

Thanks Heaps mate! I don't have the coin as yet, but I should have it in my possession in the next hour or so ... if it looks convincing, I will post up an image of it.
Best Regards Roni

Looks to be a plated/reprocessed '43. An accurate weight to two decimal places might tell us more. Also, beware Pareidolia.

I have never seen one in my whole entire life of collecting coins...
obviously PCGS will have the last say ... and if its legit which I think it is ... how rare is it and how valuable is it?

I agree. It's a reprocessed Cent.
Errers and Varietys.

ijn 1944, have you noticed there are two long die cracks on the reverse side of the coin ....
and again, I have never seen any imitations or replicas with die cracks. But maybe I am wrong pls correct me if I am ..

All good I will make sure you will be the first I tell and show .... 2.7 grams is a pretty good start :) ... also it is actually more convincing seeing it in real life rather than pictures
