I do have a 79 Denver that is in way better condition then the 45.. the color is like a Dijon mustard color to be specific.. I have tried to find examples of acid washed Pennie's and I have nothing that looks close to it? I am interested in the communities thoughts on this #128579;

I just noticed this as I posted these pictures.. Is it me? Or does the NT in "CENT" seem MUCH bigger then the CE?

@mik, I think we need a bit crisper close up photo to help with determining if you have a RPM here. Here is a link to the one known RPM so that you can compare with the coin in hand:

Mikes2Cents,

Standard operating procedure is to check these three reference sites http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php http://varietyvista.com/ http://doubleddie.com/looking for a match. Once you think you found a match, post photos here on CCF the exact same way they are posted on the reference site you checked and ask for confirmation.

To CCF! A sharp crisp close-up picture of the mint mark would help.

Sorry about the late response. Been battling an unknown heart condition..

This is going to be the best I can provide with the microscope I use to check my coins. I hope it helps!

The bigger event on this coin is that it's way underweight. At 2.7g it's about 12% underweight. And as the OP said it doesn't look like an acid coin.

So I pulled a 79 from my collection and the diameter and thickness appear to be the same..

Can you us a micrometer on it? I don't know if the mint minted any foreign coins in 79.

You should never use metal instruments on coins like that.

Yeah you might put that one aside for further investigations.
That weight is certainly Abbey Normal.

...and yes that steel micrometer could easily leave a permanent mark on your coin.
