Just traded fiat for real money again at a LCS, all 90% dimes this time. $600 yielded 187 Rosie's, 135 Mercs, 5 Barbers, 1 non silver Canadian, and 1 1966 US dime (not silver unfortunately.
This one surprised me for being in the junk stuff. This LCS uses a coin counter, so a few oddballs slipped through.
Did I do OK on this one for about $1.83?
Hoping you can give me an idea as to the grade it might bring and if it is a cleaned coin or not. If determined to be cleaned, please explain the evidence of this to me.
Grade wise, I want to say about EF45.

too much light glare to properly assess the surfaces. do not use any overhead or flash lighting.

based on these photos i'd call it XF45 details (cleaned)

it appears that the original skin of the coin has been removed. if you pull up any straight graded coin at XF you will see the difference. add that to all the scratches on both sides especially around ONE CENT. the other marker are the areas of discoloration on both sides. there was most likely something on the surfaces and although removed and lighter it could not entirely be removed. acetone may remove some of this but the coin would still detail imo

a straight graded 08D might retail for $45 so i'd say even at details $1.83 is pretty darn good for the coin

Coinfrog is right, I think. You could try posting a pic with less glare, but it's pretty clear that this coin has been cleaned, pretty harshly. Still a great buy a junk prices.

Experienced collectors look for original surfaces, and usually recognize when they're not. Circulated silver coins simply aren't this color. It's a false luster. Under a microscope it will show micro-abrasions and rubs.
