Yes, need a sharp close-up. As for now, it looks like a glue/crud feature.

Seems like it might be dried glue, with an impression of some other coin in its surface. However it might be a piece of struck through copper foil.

I'll go for glue too, then another coin was pressed into it. Try a pure acetone soak to see if it comes off or gets softened.
