thank you! I had seen that one but wasn't sure if the prices were valid or not. Does everyone agree that those are fair prices?

Have you tried (131231) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed ? It seems to pull the values of the coins right from the Krause catalogs.

Hmmm I looked up one coin on both sites and the prices are wildy different. Also, it says that it's pricing is taken from 2005 references and guide books. world coins had it listed as $25 and the tclayton site had it listed at 50 pounds. Why is there such a wide range between sites when it come to british stuff?

I think the tclayton site pricing is a bit out of date, as well. At least going by the pages 'last updated' dates. The csv files seem to be just a conversion of what is up in the web site.

You might also remember that the UK site or any one listed in Pounds, is a domestic site aimed at the British market...not the american one. The prices for British coins in the US is a factor of demand..the same for U.S. coins in british markets. And the majority of people collect their own coins as opposed to "foreign".

ok I will try to remember that. Bu that still leaves me trying to figure out what the correct value to choose is. Which site or book should I go by to get the most reliable pricing?

Well to put it bluntly...your up the creek without the canoe. Here in the U.S., I have for reference both the COLLECTOR'S COIN GB by Chris H. Perkins (Rotographic press..available thru his webbsite or Amazon.com) and the COINS OF ENGLAND AND THE UNITED KINGDOM by Spink. Now both these show the British values, in pounds, but they at least give a starting point. I usually figure the refererence price times about .6 or .5 to start. By the way, I am currently putting together a slabbed set of Farthing's and Penny's for Victoria and a complete set of Half Pennies 33 thru 67....what an adventure.

Malissa, I tried many times in vain to find a good website with current prices on British coins but never had much luck. I finally gave up and signed up over at this website and bought the 2007 book. I haven't been there in a year or so so I don't know what is going on over there lately but I still have my Rotographic book that I bought from there. http://www.predecimal.com/index.php...02a25d128045

Hi Malissa, I can help with individual prices from the 2009 Spinks " Coins of England and the United Kingdom" if you are stuck. Can you not get a copy over the pond?. It is £25.00 in the UK maybe a friend could bring you a copy back if they visit.. or you could order from Amazon. It is truly an excellent publication. But as already mentioned in the thread..based on UK prices. Regards, Clive
