All,

Found a 1971 half penny on the ground over weekend.

Amazing since they where withdrawn from circulation at the end of 1984.

Sadly I don't think if I purchased a metal detector, they would let me do detecting at the golf course that my daugther is now working at....but does make me wonder what else is out there on that property.

You mentioned a golf course. This looks to have been dropped recently. I would imagine someone was using it as a place marker for their golf ball.

Hey QuickSilver....that makes the most sense to me that it was used as a golf marker on the greens. It was found near the club house which is right near the last hole.
