Today I came across this 2020 Weir Farms Quarter and its appearance made me think of the beehive error I have heard about on this quarter. However, I believe the beehive is a die chip. Can anyone tell me what caused these black spots and if they are associated with the beehive error that is being shopped around on ebay and the like?

Those black spots/stains are just the result of environmental damage. PMD.

ebay comes up with a lot of "errors" to separate people that know nothing about coins from their money.
