First off I'd like to say I'm new to coin collecting and Thank You all for having me. This is my first post so I hope I did it right.
So after looking through about $3 worth of Wheat Cents I came across this strange 1931 Wheat cent that caught my attention. My only real question is what happened to this coin and when? As you can see(I hope) there is what appears to be a large gouge running from the edge of the coin to around Lincoln's bowtie, however inside the gouge Liberty is still visible. Any ideas as to what this is? Sorry if pics are not good.

AnomicMind, it appears to be a lamination that has been pushed leftward after the coin was struck. Nice find!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Thank you for the quick response. One person I showed it to said it looked like Liberty was stabbing Lincoln in the back. The obvious next question is what should I do with it and is it...lol...worth anything.

I save all the lams I find. Some don't. As far as a premium for a circulated cent, I'd put it at 50 cents.
