Not 100% sure on this one. There is not much to go on for the 1960-D nickel DDO-001. Just the little protrusion on the belly of the 6 in 1960. To my eyes, it looks like more of a die gouge or die chip on the edge of the 6. Also, my nickel is rather weathered from circulation.

Might just tuck this one away for the future, when I have a proper digital microscope for coins.

In looking at the listing again, I did notice a mismatch.

1960-D-Jefferson-Nickel-DDO-001

The mint marks do appear to be in approximately the same vertical, horizontal, and rotational placement. But that is very subjective just using my eyes. The filled reference mint mark on VV/CONECA seems to be on a coin in good condition. It doesn't seem like the D was scraped over by a coin rolling machine. I suppose it's possible that my nickel's mint mark was from an earlier die state, before the post broke (assuming the reference indeed has a broken post).

Or, just as likely, this coin isn't a match for DDO-001. That anomaly on the belly of the 6 does look the same, though.

Are your close ups on the right?
The 6 on the left shows something on the inside upper part of the 6 and the photos on the right do not have them.

Correct, reference is on the left, my images on the right.

I do see the little blip you are talking about. I agree there is no corresponding blip in my photos.

The number 1960 in the reference appears to have been struck by something major that went through the top loop of the 9, through the entire top hook of the 6, and ended in the top half of the 0. That PMD complicates things a bit. Honestly, the longer I look at the reference image, the more I think the edge of the anomaly is ragged, much more like a hornet's nest than a doubled die. If it's doubling, even at an angle, then how was there no doubling on any other edge or on the 0? I am obviously no expert in such things, but I would love to know how CONECA and Dr. Wiles decided that this one was a DDO. The only other 1960s nickel with a similar feature is much easier to confirm as doubling.

I think this nickel goes into a flip, and gets dropped in the Future Examination box. It doesn't match the listing all that well, and the listing itself is somewhat questionable.

Thanks for the help, guys.
