Hello everyone, Haven't been on in a while.....Got this set & others years ago, noticed the satin finish was missing on alot of the coins front & reverse, put them up & I'm Just getting around to showing them on this great site....Are they improperly annealed, copper wash? ....Any advice would be great, Both still sealed in case they came in....Thanks in advance....Terry.

It's a shame more care wasn't taken when those nickels were put in that holder. IMHO the heavy fingerprints on those coins have destroyed any collector value

Are those fingerprints on the case or the coin? I think it's just toning, in my opinion.

Is this a 2nd party aftermarket set? Looks like a thumbprint on them.

Thanks for the Reply to all.....The marks/coating on these is silver, also showing copper throughout, front & back.....It's crazy weird. like the satin never coated the coins completely. in hand it you can see the copper all around that silver coating.....Thanks to all....Terry.

Some serious sweaty fingers touched these coins.

Looks like the fingerprints are on the coins, pretty much wrecks them.

The "satin finish" was due to silver? I cannot find any references to this. I thought it was due to die preparation. Please confirm so that I may remediate my ignorance.

again, this nickel was not packaged by the mint - it is an after market item. and not handled very well seeing that fingerprint on the obverse.
I think it is just toning of the metal, I have a few that now look gold from toning.
