I'm new to this whole searching coins addiction so apologies if I'm mistaken. Is there an ink error on my penny plus missing mint mark.

...hello & welcome ... I'm new to error collecting, also, but I can answer this one ...
...there is no 'inking' applied to general circulating coins ... the smudges your coin has
were done after the coin left the mint...
...the penny was minted at the Philadelphia mint, & most coins from there lack a mint - mark ('P') ... exception being WWII era silver nickles, & Washington quarters ...
...Hey!...it's still worth a penny!...lol ...hope this helps ... John

No ink has been applied to this cent (at the mint) which was produced at the Philadelphia Mint where they did not (for the most part) add mint marks on the Lincoln Cent coins.

mrwiskers; You did a good job on your explanations for being new. Spots on cents are called carbon spots or it is just staining, very common.
