I bought through ebays 'buy it now' 2 Mntl Canadian double dated loonies (I know..I know..I paid too much for them), and they arrived today.
I see the RCM is selling them in rolls, but the 2 I got from this ebay seller were enclosed in mint cellophane. (Similar to what is used in their proof-like sets.)
So...are the coins at the Metro Stores coming in the cellophane? I do know the Quebec toonie that came from the Caisse Popular Desjardin branches last year, were not
Thanks

Coins from Metro are all in plastic cellophane,if you buy them from the mint they come with the mint roll, the only inconvenient with the mint roll is that you pay $ 20.00 extra because they are selling them for $ 45.00 a roll.

SCUMBAG MINT.I hope they realize there are Montreal Canadian fans across Canada.I won't be putting one of these in my collection due to there RCMs ways. What is so Canadian about only issuing this coin to a Quebec grocery stores.Knitting a tougue, shoveling the driveway and shooting a puck is Canadian because some know how to share special things,''not the mint''!

Here is a message from the mint.

The Mint has produced 10 million of these coins and I am pleased to inform you that the Mint has placed 2.5 million of these commemorative one-dollar coins into general circulation, in addition to distributing a large quantity through Quebec-based Metro grocery stores as of March 11, 2009. Please note that the mintage of this coin was driven by the need to carefully evaluate the number of circulation coins the Mint can produce on an annual basis, in order to prevent oversupplying the market. When dealing with high-value denominations such as one- and two-dollar coins, the market's ability to absorb new coins is understandably limited.
