I collected baseball cards from 1976 to about 2010.... I say collected, I would be more precise to say that I hoarded baseball cards from about 1995 to 2008 and amassed over 600,000. I moved twice and paid a boatload to move this sized collection....

Before moving a third time, my wife made me choose between moving the three kids or the collection a third time. It was 2015 or so when cards were at a lull and most of my stuff was 10-25 years old and not what was necessarily desirable to move at that time.... So, the local Habitat for Humanity Restore became the new home for my cards as I took them in truckloads to their store over a period of weeks as they moved thru them and I gave them all away....

It was a sad couple of years there for a while as I had nothing to really collect but my kids kept me busy with their needs and such.... But I was searching for something else.... I liked reading about stamps and thought that was great but there was no real market or shops to frequent here locally and it never took off.

I became a Branch Manager about 7 months ago of a local Bank and absolutely love my job. I started watching You Tube videos of people doing coin roll hunting and thought that it was pretty interesting and obviously something I have access to.

So I ordered up a box of halves and in the first box had 3 90% Kennedy's and 6-7 40% and some NIFC's and a couple of proofs.... I thought I had struck gold if every box was going to be that way..... Then I ordered more boxes thru the bank and the next 15 boxes have failed to produce a single 90% coin...

So I turned to serial numbers on bills and spent a couple of weeks sorting through $1000 in ones everyday and love it... then I went back to coins and started a Nickel Hunt after getting the Whitman books for all the Jefferson nickels.

Now, as time permits, I relax searching thru coins or dollars and have a blast. I have started moving some on ebay and enjoy the sound of that cha ching on my phone when someone bids on one of my auctions as much as finding a 6 of a kind serial number when bill hunting.

I love the community here as they are so supportive of others in the hobby and look forward to becoming more active in the future. I am envious of guys I see on Facebook doing full time hunting.... I saw one pic of a guy that had picked up $16K in coins to search that week... had some 25 boxes of all sorts.... That has to be some serious liquid soap that he goes thru to clean those hands....

Have a great day, thanks for reading and I look forward to getting to know anyone that responds :)

Excellent intro and welcome to the forum. Gald to have you.
I'm glad you didn't become obsessive about baseball cards.

You should be able to do the same with coins and currency.
Avoid obsessing over them, I mean.

None of that over here. Bwahahahah!
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
