I've always thought this series was undervalued, especially in the lower grades. It's much harder to find worthwhile 25c specimens than the 50centers, which had much higher mintages, but they usually action pretty low when they appear. Higher than the halves, but not as high as you'd expect. It's all about demand, I suppose. What say you?   Edited by pristine2 09/29/2023 10:48 pm

I think it makes VG8 on overall appearance. Nice piece.

I'm torn between a VG-8 and VG-10. I think that the eye appeal and strong obverse might do enough to get this coin to VG-10.

just a really nice circulated example. I agree underrated and not widely collected so demand does have an effect on the values.

These are my favorite. I've acquired about 60 large sized quarters over the years from VG to VF. I think this one makes 10. Nice coin!

VG-10
Bust quarters are common in low grades but scarce in higher grades. The prices and pops have huge spreads. The entire series is conditionally rare because they all circulated. Half dollars were stored in bulk which is why many high grade examples are available today.

There are definitely a few dates that appear with some regularity at auction in lower grades, but in my experience, the first few years of this series are always pretty difficult to source, even in lower grades.

Comparing to online PCGS photograde, I concur with VG-10. I personally don't have any of these large size quarters in my collection so one like this would be acceptable for me. Congrats, nice coin!

Thanks all. It was $204. I think it is modestly graded, which is how I like them. The Large 9 is a slightly more scarce variety, although it doesn't carry any premium at this point.

I would have said VG10 as well. I have a VG8 and I think yours is better.

That coin has the look that I love. Agree that it's slightly undergraded.
