Hello everyone,

I always feel a lot better posting wins or potential wins on the forum but I likely overpaid for six Morgans this morning.

This 1899 O is probably the worst of the six, but they are all similar enough.

Curious how coins like this grade and approximately how they are valued/considered/ etc. In the u.s.

To me, just a bullion coin in this condition.

Correct on all three counts ... cleaned, polished, and it's a cull. It's worth spot silver minus whatever the buyer takes.

It's karma for that 1884-CC that landed in your hands last month!

Hard pass for me.

To go from an unc 1884-cc to this is pretty silly.

I don't see why you have to buy everything, learn to pass on bad coins.
You realize when you know how to think, it empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.

@numismaticsftw...you're right ahaha...
Although this is a vendor I have a relationship with I guess at some level it's maintaining that.

But... like the CC ... these exchanges are fast and often thoughtless... for better or worse...I buy everything because 5-6/100 are better dates and 1/100 in a CC and I have never paid more than $25-35 for a Morgan... my average is likely less than $30 per coin. Occasionally, I find something better ... roman republic coins in lots, a U.S. cent from 1800 for about $30,... part of the risk and reward I suppose. Last week I bought 31 pre-65 quarters for €90. If I buy everything, vendors sell to me at low prices.

These are a little better, especially the 87. They're common-date low-to-mid-grade Morgans, still worth only bullion prices, but pleasing enough to keep.

The 99 is for the melting pot.

the least expensive VF details coin that sold on ebay was about $24. so i'd put both of these in that range

Or you could use an automotive buffer on the coins until they gleam like chrome, photoshop the pics a little, and then sell them on ebay like this:
